Lexy is a passionate creator and teacher, who is eager to explore new and interesting ways to portray authentic communication onstage and off. They put honesty and empathy above all else, and strive to portray these onstage and nourish them in life. They received a BS in Arts Administration - Theatre from Butler University in 2018, where they focused on using theatre for community engagement and art education. They also studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School during a summer intensive.
Over the last five years, Lexy has honed their craft as a devised theatre teaching artist. Their experience is varied but specific. They taught as a full time self-empowerment high school teacher in Indianapolis through React. They've had the chance to work with an array of theatre companies in Chicago, such as Mudlark and Northlight, as a teaching artist. They also direct shows with students from different communities, and sculpt one-off workshops.
Lexy's classes put an emphasis on ensemble, centering respect and group narratives. They believe theatre, and the arts in general, should be used as a means to engage and enrich a community, for the sake of that community.
As a performer and director, Lexy loves surprising their audience by subverting expectations and delivering messages with purpose and whimsy
